About the Emerging Leaders Group
The Plan
The Carolinas MGMA Emerging Leaders Program is a six-month journey designed to empower early- to mid-career professionals in healthcare leadership. Here's what participants can expect:
- Program Duration: July 2025 – December 2025.
- Session Frequency: Monthly virtual meetings with a minimum of four sessions.
- In-Person Engagement: One face-to-face session at the 2025 Fall Conference.
- Learning Approach: Interactive sessions featuring real-world case studies, group discussions, and activities that encourage innovative thinking.
- Networking Opportunities: Build lasting relationships with peers and mentors to support your leadership journey.
Your Role
As a participant, your engagement is crucial to the program's success. We encourage you to:
- Be Present: Attend sessions and actively participate in discussions.
- Stay Curious: Ask questions and seek feedback to enhance your learning.

To sign up as a mentee or mentor, please use the online form at the button link below. The mentee cost is $40, which includes group materials. The deadline to register is Friday, July 4th.
2025 Cohort Mentors
Sanela Ahmetovic, MHA Sanela Ahmetovic is the Operations Manager at Tryon Medical Partners, an independent multi-specialty medical practice based in Charlotte, NC. In her role, she supports operations across 13 locations focusing on streamlining processes, empowering team members and driving patient-centered initiatives. Sanela joined the Emerging Leader Program with a passion for growing alongside other leaders and sharing lessons learned through her own leadership journey. She has been an active member of MGMA for two years and currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer for the Metrolina chapter.
Grace Keel Grace is the Director of Operations at iTrust Wellness Group, a multi-division independent psychiatry practice based in Greenville, SC. She has been a member of MGMA, both the Upstate SC chapter and the national chapter, since 2023. Grace joined the Emerging Leader Committee with a desire to support others who are navigating the challenges of new leadership. She knows firsthand how demanding that transition can be and is passionate about helping others find clarity and confidence in their roles.
Micaela Turner Micaela Turner holds a B.S. in Healthcare Administration and currently serves as an Administrative Support Specialist at Nash OB-GYN Associates in Rocky Mount, NC. While in college, she gained valuable experience working in the medical field as a scribe and account representative. Upon graduation, Micaela set her sights on a career in healthcare administration and is now being mentored by her practice's current administrator to eventually step into the role of Practice Administrator. Since starting at Nash OB-GYN, Micaela has joined Carolinas MGMA and is a member of the Eastern Chapter. She is committed to growing professionally through mentorship, hands-on experience, and ongoing education through professional organizations.
Quintin Smith, MBA, FACHE, CMPE Quintin Smith is a healthcare leader with over a decade of experience driving operational excellence and strategic growth in medical group settings. He currently serves as Practice Administrator for Novant Health’s Cotswold Medical Clinic, overseeing financial performance, clinic operations, and value-based care initiatives. Quintin holds an MBA from UNC Charlotte and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE). Quintin is currently serving on the Carolinas MGMA board of directors.
