Last week, practice management professionals from across the Carolinas gathered at The Westin Charlotte for the 2026 Carolinas MGMA Fall Conference. The event paired practical education with innovative solutions, peer connection, and fresh ideas to help medical practices move forward.

Administrator of the Year Award

Congratulations to Sheridan Robinson of Cornerstone Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine, the 2026 Carolinas MGMA Administrator of the Year. Sponsored by Curi, this award recognizes a medical practice administrator whose exceptional leadership and management have strengthened healthcare delivery in North and South Carolina.
Ms. Robinson was recognized and presented with a $3,000 education stipend during Thursday’s Curi High-Octane Evening at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Kim Harrah Becker Volunteer Award
Amber Popham, CIC, CRM
The Kim Harrah Becker Volunteer Award celebrates the spirit and impact of volunteer service within Carolinas MGMA. This year’s recipient, Amber Popham, is a tireless supporter of the association who has served in many volunteer positions over the years. Amber is currently the Carolinas MGMA 2026 president-elect.
Amber was recognized for her impact and service on Friday morning during the Annual Business Meeting.
Meritorious Service Award
Michael Icenhour, CMPE
The Meritorious Service Award recognizes outstanding contributions to Carolinas MGMA, its members, and the field of medical practice management. Michael Icenhour received the honor in recognition of his many years of service to the association and to healthcare practice management. Michael was our 2021 Administrator of the Year.
Michael was recognized for his outstanding service on Friday morning during the Annual Business Meeting.

The Award is given to a member of Carolinas MGMA for outstanding service and contribution to the association, its members, and medical practice management. Melissa Klingberg, CAE, Executive Director of Carolinas MGMA, was honored for her innovation, her energy and her overall dedication to the success of the association.
Community Service Project
Postpartum Kits for WEBE
After the last morning session on Friday, guests came together to assemble 300 postpartum kits for the Women’s Empowerment & Birth Equity Institute (WEBE). Thank you to the attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and volunteers who contributed their time and care to this important project.

Conservation Project
Last week we launched our first Fall Conference conservation campaign. With the support of Fill it Forward, the first 125 attendees received reusable water bottles and scanned refills to track the impact of avoiding single-use waste while supporting global giving projects.
